We left Madisonville at a civilized time after having coffee ashore.
The route wasn't direct as we needed to divert to an elevated section of the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway.
Mandeville, famous for a British military defeat in 1779, has a very pretty, mile long waterfront park. There are many gorgeous antebellum houses. Most appear to have been elevated in the not so distant past. It's not unusual to see first floors 22' above sea level.
Mandeville is very cruiser friendly. At the entrance to their harbor is a wall for transients. It has both water and electricity and all for free. The winds were forecast to build and blow from the SW.
It was something to see what moderate winds could do to the sea state. Unfortunately the waves made their way into the harbor too. Poor Nellie. She experienced bigger waves tied to the Mandeville wall than in most of her time at sea.
It was during the worst of the bouncing that a TV crew showed up. With Nellie in the background, a young woman interviewed a well dressed man. I'm not sure what the interview was about, but the video has to be better for the tug dancing in the background ;-)
On the bumpy but free Mandeville wall. 22nm today and 964nm to date. DBH
