Day 119: Reversing Course

Double Fenders

I was wrong when I wrote yesterday that Nellie's wave induced dance for the news crew was her most energetic.  Turns out she saved that for 3am.  About the same time we bailed, our more properly we were tossed out of the stateroom's bunk.   On the plus side, the saloon is definitely more comfortable when Nellie's pitching.

To quote the man I aspire to become, Captain Ron, "Dawn comes early on a boat."  Frankly, today it could not have come early enough.  Sunrise was at 6:40am and it found us already underway.

Hmm, what's wrong with this picture?

Today's Route: Mandeville, LA to Gulfport, MS

Yup, we are now headed east.  Why?  Because between the Harvey Lock and Galveston, three 100 mile travel days are needed to get between safe stopping areas.  A day that long is the definition of a delivery trip, and we try very hard not to do deliveries.

Tonight we're back in Gulfport, MS.  60nm today and 1025nm for the trip.
