Day #217: Bettendorf, Iowa

Nellie's Starter Key on the Raw Water Strainer's Thruhull

The new impeller went in easily this morning and worked flawlessly.

John Niccolls had some good advice: when you close the raw water strainer, leave the boat's starter key on the thruhull.  You may still forget to open the thruhull, but you won't be able to start the boat!

A Swing Bridge Just Before Lock 15 Halts our progress

Truck and Trailer Auction

It's amazing what you come across in a seven mile walk from Bettendorf to downtown Davenport.  The truck and trailer auction pictured above was huge.  Trucks with 1M miles on them were going for $6K while grain trailers were around $8K.

Rock Island, Illinois to Bettendorf, Iowa

It was a whole seven miles from Sunset Marina to the Isle of Capri Casino.  But, for $15 in slip rent we just couldn't pass the casino up!  Total miles under the keel is 3,871.  DBH
