Getting to Lock 14 was a lot harder than getting through it. Unlike downstream, where the Tainter gates are up and the river is following unrestricted, the gates at 14 were partially down and this roiled the water. It was a bubbling cauldron that we crossed to get into the lock. This was the most turbulence we've seen. Fortunately, the lock was open and Nellie scooted right into its more tranquil waters.
North of Lock 14 the currents were still between 4 and 6 mph. The river level is dropping about 1' per day but here in Clinton it's still 8' above normal pool. Barring any more rain, it'll be just a week more of slow going :-)
